Just like old analogue pictures and films, paper photos also have limited durability. In particular, photo paper from the 80’s and 90’s is especially bad. What’s more, there’s nothing you can do to restore damaged photos.

Scan your photos now before it’s too late:

  • With time your photos start to fade or color casts appear.
  • Light exposure worsens these effects. But even if stored in the dark, colour quality starts to decrease.
  • In particular, black-and-white photos start turning yellow and spoiled.
  • Repeated viewing also leads to photo damage, such as finger prints, stains, scratches, tears and so on.
  • Framed photos on walls will fade even faster if they’re exposed to sunlight.

Digitizing your photos means future generations can view your precious memories.

You can use your digitised memories in many new ways:

  • View them digitally on TV, PC or projector. Stop huddling over an old photo album trying to make out the details of a tiny photo — view your memories comfortably together on the living room TV!
  • Create photo books and gifts. Design digital photo books just the way you want them and have them professionally bound, a perfect gift for your loved ones. Freely combine new and old shots in a single book, and bring more colour and joy to everyday life with printed mugs, T-shirts and smartphone cases.
  • Create prints on modern materials. Want that small black-and-white photo of your parents’ wedding on a canvas in your living room? Or the colour-intensive 9×13 print from your Thailand trip in large format under classy acrylic glass? By scanning your photos, even small images can have a big impact.

Which resolution is best for me?

At MEDIAFIX you can digitize photos with a resolution between 300 dpi and 1,200 dpi. If you’re not sure about what resolution is the right one for you, you should consider your purposes. This will make it easier for your decision what resolution you really need:

» Scan photos with 300 dpi
A solid basis for the scan resolution of photos is 300 dpi. This resolution is used for printing magazines, for example, and delivers the best quality. So go for this scan resolution if you want to:

  • archive your photos
  • want to reprint them in the same size
  • crate photo books or photo gifts
  • view them on a monitor

» Scan photos with 600 dpi
For a decent resolution, choose 600 dpi. This lets you:

  • print in double size
  • present your scans on a HD TV, high-res computer or digital projector

» Scan photos with 900 dpi
Do you have more specialized needs? With 900 dpi you can:

  • enlarge image details without any problems
  • present your scans on a Full HD TV, high-res computer or digital projector
  • create wall prints up to DIN A3 format

» Scan photos with 1,200 dpi
Want the absolute best for your photos? With 1,200 dpi, you don’t have to compromise. You can:

  • enlarge image details without any problems
  • edit your digitised photos to a professional standard
  • present your photo scans on a 4K TV, high-resolution computer displays or a digital projector
  • create wall prints up to DIN A2 format
